All in one – the GCKV container for gas drying, gas compression and transport of biogas

GCKVThe GCKV concept is very simple: consistent bundling of all key functional units that are needed to reliably supply the gas motors (e.g. satellites) with the biogas produced. Or to put it another way, the GCKV container houses all components such as the gas cooler, condensate trap, liquid coolant circuit, water cooler and compressor. A microprocessor handles control and regulation of all integrated assemblies and monitoring equipment. This unit is located in a control cabinet which is also integrated in the container. The gas cooler, condensate trap, condensate outlet and liquid coolant circuit are fitted with vapour-diffusion-proof insulation for protection from extremely low temperatures. If required, however, the container itself can also be fitted with sound and heat insulation to protect it from extreme cold in winter and extreme heat in summer. The all-in-one nature of the GCKV means the addition of only one more compact unit to the adjacent assemblies of the biogas plant, gas storage tank and gas utilisation system.
The GCKV comes in a total of 12 sizes/performance classes from 180 to 2100 Nm3/h gas flow rate, which means the right system is available for every plant. Further, customised variants are also possible on request.
Combining the gas supply technology in a central system is advantageous because it reduces the investment volume for the operator, simplifies planning, guarantees reliable operation and saves on maintenance later. The unit is fully assembled in the factory by SILOXA engineers.
The basic version of the GCKV features gas drying (separation of the water vapour from the biogas), gas compression and transport to the consumer (CHP). To separate the unwanted water vapour from the biogas, the gas supply system has a condensation drying unit with tube bundle heat exchanger and cooling assembly. To supply the gas motor system, the SILOXA GCKV system is equipped with a compressor with frequency regulator and temperature monitor to ensure an increase in gas pressure of 160 mbar (optionally up to 400 mbar).

GCKV insideThe whole system is safe, convenient and easy to operate. A built-in interface allows integration in a PC network and Internet access. Status information can thus be requested at any time and all processes monitored via the PC. The gas supply system can also be optionally expanded with the addition of diverse measuring modules. For measuring the gas mass flow rate, the conveyed quantity of gas is recorded by a gas mass flow meter. The measuring signal is converted to an analogue signal by the system control unit and sent to the process control system of the biogas plant. The biogas analyser automatically measures the concentrations of the relevant gas components methane, oxygen and hydrogen sulphide intermittently, archives the results and makes these available as an analogue measuring signal. The gas quantity and gas composition are important values for controlling the biogas process. All measurements are required by the master process control system of the biogas plant. Unless there is a redundant gas utilisation system, an emergency flare stack is needed for safe disposal of biogas in case of temporary stoppage of the gas utilisation system. The GCKV can also perform this function. The optional emergency flare stack allows controlled combustion of the full biogas production capacity.
